A Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Visual Arts is a production-oriented, studio art program directed toward individual development. The curriculum is designed for maximum flexibility to accommodate both those seeking advanced training in a particular studio area and those whose interests may involve more media cross-over. Graduates of the plan will be prepared for careers every bit professional artists. The MFA is the terminal degree in Studio Art.

A Bachelor's degree in art or equivalent is required for all applicants to the MFA programme. Applicants are required to electronically submit a portfolio of their works for review by a departmental committee. The department utilizes the GetAcceptd.com portal for the portfolio submissions. Applications and Portfolio borderline is February 1st. Admission is one time a yr, with Autumn semester entry.

FIU Graduate Access Application:

First Step: An online FIU Graduate Admission Application must be submitted first – Apply Online . The following are required :

    • Successful completion of the bachelor'southward degree in art or equivalent
    • Certified college transcripts
    • Three (3) messages of recommendation – professional or academic

**International and all applicants with an undergraduate caste in a strange linguistic communication: TOEFL score of 550 newspaper-based/80 net-based is required.

**The Department of Art + Art History does not crave GRE test scores.

Portfolio Requirements:

Second Step: Upload the following to GetAcceptd (separate nominal fee charged by GetAcceptd):

      • Written statement of intent: creative piece of work and goals for development while in the program (no more than 500 words)
      • Portfolio that includes twenty images (300 dpi, jpeg format)
      • CV
      • Summit MFA Portfolio via GetAcceptd.com

Portfolios are reviewed by a committee of faculty members. One time admission decision is fabricated, applicants volition exist notified shortly after.
